What you will need - Essential

We strongly recommend that anyone intending to embark on the therapy should read 'The Gerson Therapy' by Charlotte Gerson and Morton Walker and 'A Time to Heal' by Beata Bishop. We feel it is also crucial for patients to watch the GSG video, 'Healing at Home', which takes them through every stage of a Gerson day, from washing vegetables to administering injections and enemas.

Organic Suppliers

All food consumed must be organic. You will need large quantities of fresh organic fruit and vegetables, therefore it is important to find a suitable supplier in your area before you start the therapy.

Juicer

The juices should be prepared using a special machine to grind the fruit and vegetables into a pulp, which is then pressed in a hydraulic press. This method produces the largest amount of juice, beside releasing the maximum amount of vitamins and minerals, as well as safeguarding the essential enzymes. Juices need to be drunk immediately, as the enzymes begin to deteriorate rapidly within 20 minutes. The Champion Juicer, with a Health Stream Press, is the one used by most Gerson patients. Both can be obtained from the Wholistic Research Company Ltd. For more information go to www.wholisticresearch.com (and to benefit from the special discounts they offer be sure to mention the Gerson Support Group). The Norwalk juicer, with is built-in hydraulic press, is also excellent but is more expensive.

Water Distiller

All water used for cooking, herb teas, oral care and enemas must be either distilled or filtered by reverse osmosis equipment. For cancer patients the latter is only permissible in areas where water is not flouridated. 'Earthly Goods' will supply and install a reverse osmosis water purification system anywhere in the country (contact Len on 01480-812-004).

Supplies

The digestive enzymes, supplements and vitamins which form part of the therapy, as well as enema kits, can be obtained from Stephen Richards at Healing Naturally Limited. Contact him at www.healingnaturally.co.uk, or by telephone or fax on 01525 875 739, where he is generally available to advise you between 9–1 pm Monday to Friday.

'A Time to Heal'

by Beata Bishop

This compelling personal story reasssures and encourages cancer patients to believe that they can make their own intelligent choices about their treatment.

The book chronicles the scepticism and opposition of the conventional medical establishment that Beata encountered from her doctors, and her quite logical decision to follow her own research with formidable determination. A decision prompted by an all too clear understanding of the inevitable prognosis of her secondary malignant melanoma.

Recipes

The Gerson Support Group has produced a recipe book, 'Simply Gerson', to get you started. It shows you how to prepare food, what to do and what not to do. For more information on this and a number of other publications, compiled by Gerson patients and written specifically to provide recipes and address issues of concern for those new to the therapy and their carers, go to Materials.
